Torchwood-Be Ready
I saw this spin off series last year on CBC – they showed the first season. It was spun off from Doctor Who with Captain Jack Harkness as the head of Torchwood – Cardiff.
From Wikipedia: “Torchwood is a science fiction drama television programme, created by Russell T Davies and stars John Barrowman and Eve Myles. It deals with the machinations and activities of the Cardiff branch of the fictional Torchwood Institute, who deal mainly with incidents involving extraterrestrials. An initial 13-part series was commissioned by the BBC as a spin-off from the long-running science fiction programme Doctor Who with which it is closely interlinked. The programme is produced in-house by BBC Wales, whose Head of Drama Julie Gardner serves as executive producer alongside Davies. The first two episodes of Series 1 of Torchwood premiered on 22 October 2006 on BBC Three and BBC HD with all subsequent episodes of that series shown at 10 p.m. on Sunday evenings.
As of 16 January 2008, the second series is being broadcast weekly on BBC Two.[1][2] On BBC America, Series 2 premiered on January 26, 2008.[3] As of 13 February 2008, new episodes will make their premiere broadcast on BBC Three at 9.50 p.m, and then at 10 p.m. every week thereafter. The episodes will continue to be broadcast at 9 p.m. on BBC Two whilst being simulcast in high-definition on BBC HD.”
I have been getting the second seasons episodes via bit torrent from Britain and it is just getting better. I got episode 8 last night and it was very interesting. I recommend this when it comes on CBC.
As for Doctor Who
should be back in March with a new season. There was a Christmas episode about the Titanic (future version) and a short episode where two of the Doctors met in the Tardis. I am also looking forward to this being available.
There isn’t much good science fiction around nowadays but Doctor Who and Torchwood are filling the void quite well.
